Complex Care - Stroke.

At Yeshua Healthcare, we provide care for patients who have suffered a stroke. This is one of the specialist services we offer. We understand that the recovery period after a stroke, or Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA), varies greatly and that rehabilitation needs to be tailored according to the individual needs. We can offer all the levels of assistance needed and we can adjust the amount of support offered as the patient recovers.

What Is a Stroke?

A stroke is the sudden death of brain cells due to a lack of oxygen, caused by blockage of blood flow or rupture of an artery to the brain. Sudden loss of speech, weakness, or paralysis of one side of the body can be symptoms. A suspected stroke may be confirmed by scanning the brain with special X-ray tests. The death rate and level of disability resulting from a stroke can be dramatically reduced by immediate and appropriate medical care. Prevention involves minimising risk factors such as controlling high blood pressure and diabetes.

Our services include:

  • Stroke rehabilitation programmes in your own home
  • Clinical advice from Registered Nurses
  • Referral to a private Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist
  • Live-in care to assist with activities of daily living.
  • Support for family and loved ones caring for a stroke patient.

Complex Care - Spinal Cord Injury.

Complex Care - Paralysis.

Over the years, spinal cord injury meant confinement unto a wheelchair and a lifetime of medical comorbidity.  Spinal cord injury is defined as an injury to the spinal cord with neurological dysfunction with or without spinal column disruption.

Spinal cord injuries are divided into two types: incomplete and complete. An incomplete spinal cord injury is one in which the injured party still has functioning body parts located below the affected body part. A complete spinal cord injury, however, is one in which the client cannot move anything below the body part that was affected.

Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury

Incomplete spinal cord injuries are more common than complete injuries. Over 60% of all injuries to the spinal cord are incomplete. This is because medical professionals know the proper ways to respond to this type of injury to avoid complicating it. There are three common types of incomplete spinal injuries:

  • Anterior Cord Syndrome
  • Central Cord Syndrome
  • Brown-Sequard Syndrome

An anterior injury is found at the spinal cord's front. In this type of injury, the sensory pathways and motor are damaged. A central injury is found at the cord's centre and involves nerve damage. A Brown-Sequard injury occurs when one side of the spinal cord has been injured.

Complete Spinal Cord Injury

Complete spinal cord injuries are less common but more severe. There are three types of complete spinal cord injuries:

  • Tetraplegia
  • Paraplegia
  • Triplegia

The most severe type of complete spinal cord injury is Tetraplegia. This causes paralysis and can affect every limb. Its location on the cervical spine dictates exactly how severe this injury is. Paraplegia involves the injured losing complete movement and sensation of body parts. Triplegia typically results from complications arising in a spinal cord injury classified as incomplete.

At Yeshua Healthcare our specialised orthopaedic nurses and carers are competent in providing quality care, irrespective of the level of paralysis, complete or incomplete, we can care for you or your loved one with compassion, commitment, and competence as we deliver their care.  Effective communication and partnership between us, the client, and their family are paramount to provide patient centred care.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a serious condition, that is known to affect all age groups. However, the disease is known to be more frequent in older people due to there being some specific changes as they grow older.

It causes the person’s blood sugar to fluctuate and puts the client at risk of hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia.

Diabetes is divided into 2 types, Type 1, or type 2.

Understanding Type 1 Diabetes

Here’s what you need to know about type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs at every age and in people of every race, shape, and size. There is no shame in having it, and you have a community of people ready to support you. Learning as much as you can about it and working closely with Yeshua Healthcare Agency team we can give you everything you need to thrive.

In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the carbohydrates you eat into blood sugar that it uses for energy—and insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, everyone can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives.

Remember: this is a condition that can be managed. By living a healthy lifestyle filled with exercise and a sensible diet, you can live a normal life and do everything you set out to do.

Understanding Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes—and it means that your body doesn’t use insulin properly. And while some people can control their blood sugar levels with healthy eating and exercise, others may need medication or insulin to help manage it. Regardless, you have options—and we're here with the tools, resources, and support you need.

A key part of managing type 2 diabetes is maintaining a healthy diet. You need to eat something sustainable that helps you feel better and still makes you feel happy, and fed. Remember, it’s a process. Work to find helpful tips and diet plans that best suit your lifestyle—and how you can make your nutritional intake work the hardest for you.

Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes

These symptoms can be easily overlooked they may include fatigue very tired increased appetite skin infections slow healing wounds unexplained weight loss frequent urination dry itchy skin and recurrent vaginitis.

Low Blood Sugar (Hypo)

  • fatigue
  • headache
  • drowsiness
  • tremors
  • pale moist skin
  • hunger
  • impaired vision

Treatment

A hypo should be treated immediately in a conscious person with fast-acting glucose, such as a sugary (non-hot, non-milky) drink or some glucose tablets, and followed up with something starchy like biscuits, a sandwich, or the next meal. If someone is unconscious, call for medical help or an ambulance on 999.

Prevention

To prevent hypos, it is helpful to have regular mealtimes and snacks containing carbohydrates and to be aware of hypo symptoms and what to look out for in individuals who may be at risk. Target levels for blood glucose control should not be too tight and medication must be right for the individual. This is something to discuss with the GP.

Fitness

Fitness is another key to managing type 2. And the good news, all you must do, is get moving. The key is to find activities you love and do them as often as you can. No matter how fit you are, a little activity every day can help you put yourself in charge of your life.

Post-Operative Care

If you go to the hospital, you may be worried about whether you will cope when you leave. Many people only need a small amount of support after they leave the hospital, but others will need a more comprehensive package of care. Yeshua Healthcare can provide Post-Operative Care utilising the clinical skills and knowledge of an experience nurse and carer.  If you require Post-Operative Care for you or your loved one at home after a hospital discharge, please contact Yeshua Healthcare Agency team to assist your safe recovery at home.  Our registered nurses can personalise your care to suit your individual care needs as you recuperate.

Complex Care - Palliative Care.

NHS England has defined end of life care as that care which is provided in the 'last year of anyone’s life; although for some conditions, end of life care may be provided for months or years. After the Liverpool Care Pathway was withdrawn in 2014, several national reports, guidelines and policy documents began to describe the changes needed for a new approach to end of life care services.

Here at Yeshua Healthcare solutions, we guarantee that all our clients requiring palliative care are provided with high-quality, timely, compassionate, personalised care and support planning including advance care planning.

Our services particularly aim to provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms, integrate the psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of the person's care, and continue to offer a support system to help people to live as actively as possible until their death.  This high-quality home care and support are kept to keep you safe and comfortable in your own home, which can make the most difficult times a little bit easier to manage.  It is to give existing carers, and family members, a break off their routine workload, our Palliative Care team will support you with round the clock service whatever your needs are, be it on a short or long-term basis.

When a loved one is faced with a life-threatening illness, even routine tasks can be overwhelming. It is one of the most difficult periods anyone can encounter.  However, nowadays, more and more people wish to stay at home in a familiar environment during these difficult times.  Yeshua Healthcare solutions can help by assigning you their compassionate, experienced trained nurses or carers who can give personalised care at home from the time of diagnosis unto after death.

We understand that coming to terms with illness and palliative care at home can be distressing and difficult for everyone involved. We will design a care plan according to the client’s needs and wishes sensitively taking into consideration the needs and support of their loved ones and families.

At Yeshua Healthcare Home solution, carers respect and understand the need for confidentiality, trust, sensitivity, dignity, and personal choice.
